Palm Sunday takes us to the triumphal entrance of Christ in the city of Jerusalem. It is celebrated every year a week before Easter.
Palm Sunday opens for all Orthodox Romanians the cycle of Easter holidays which ends with Christ’s Ascension 40 days after Easter Sunday. This holiday reminds us of how Christ entered Jerusalem riding a donkey and cheered by the crowd with flowers and ovations. It also represents a holiday where Christian elements blend in happily with Pre-Christian ones resulting in very picturesque traditions and customs.
